6 DAY FRENCH WAY (SELF GUIDED)
Pamplona – Logroño
The French Way is the most famous Camino route to Santiago de Compostela. It runs from the eastern side of the Pyrenees at SJPP to Santiago de Compostela in the Northwest of Spain, extending to a distance of 780km. This route follows earlier Roman trade routes and traverses the Pyrenees, beech and pine forests of Navarre, the vineyards of La Rioja, the Meseta of Castile until it reaches the mountains and oak/chestnut forests of Galicia.
This 6 day walking experience takes you over the second section of this Camino from the city of Pamplona, famous for its bull running event in July to the capital of the Rioja wine region, Logroño.
On the first walking day you leave Pamplona, in the Navarra region in a westward direction to the town of Puente la Reina, with its beautiful Romanic bridge. Day 2 you continue on paths next to vineyards and through charming villages to the cobbled streets of Estella, located at the foot of the Montejurra mountain. From Estella you will pass the Pilgrim wine fountain, famous on this Camino route to end in the town of Los Arcos, where you will find one of the most beautiful churches in Navarra. On your final day you will walk to the city of Logroño, the capital city of La Roija region.
This trip is ideal for people who have walked the first section of the Camino from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Pamplona and wish to continue the entire Camino to Santiago de Compostela in stages over a number of years.
As part of this trip, you will stay 5 nights in high quality 3 and 4 star Hotels/Boutique Guesthouses with breakfasts and luggage transport between your accommodation. Around-the-clock emergency assistance is also included which adds confidence to the detailed walking notes which covers landmarks, distances and things to see over the course of your walk.

A big thank you to Magic Hill for organising our trip, everything worked a treat. Great information pack and it was nice to get the text messages, which made us feel confident you were there if required. I was especially impressed by all the transfers - lovely people who were ready and waiting without any need to ring - perfect! We thoroughly enjoyed our walk and would have no hesitation in booking through you again, we all felt you had understood our brief perfectly and were very happy. This was a beautiful stage to walk and The "Whimisical Walkie Talkies" had a fab time.
"We are soooo happy we chose Magic Hill Holidays for our Tour Company. They came through in flying colors for us. Every step of the way, EVERY DAY they were in contact with us reminding us of what we can expect, cheering us on and adding a few extra tidbits for us to look forward to. They wanted to know how we were feeling, were we happy with our accommodations, how we were holding up with the rain (we had 3 days with rain and the first had snow). Who does this? Well I met several Pilgrims who had ZERO followup contact from their tour company.....So, the accommodations, Level 2, were PERFECT! They were easy to find, always near the path, VERY comfortable, modern, clean, professional, roomy and all had breakfast onsite or had an arrangement with a breakfast cafe just steps away. We were nervous about waiting until two weeks before our Camino departure date as we were traveling elsewhere and actually needed them 3 weeks early and they accommodated us. Their restaurant recommendations were excellent and the only disappointment is that we didn't get to take advantage of all of them. I and my walking friend are Celiacs. I pre-screened all the menus before departure, planned our dining for the 6 days only to arrive and find some of the restaurants weren't open in late April. We figured it must be a seasonal thing especially those that weren't open on the weekend nights. We spoke with Bronagh on several occasions during the planning process and you could tell she was passionate the Camino and about ensuring we would have a good experience. We would highly recommend and would work with this tour company again. We choose the Private 6 Day French Way, not the 8 Day which was perfect for us."
"Thank you Magic Hill, we have had a fantastic trip, your support was invaluable"
Quote of the day:
