Spain Self Guided Package – French Way Accommodation – 8 Days
Price: €550 (excluding flights)
FRENCH WAY (SELF GUIDED)
SARRIA – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
The French Way – the quintessential, most traveled and most documented of all the Camino routes to Santiago de Compostela.
It runs from the eastern side of the Pyrenees at Saint Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in the Northwest of Spain, a distance of 780km. This route follows earlier Roman trade routes and traverses the Pyrenees, beech and pine forests of Navarre, the vineyards of La Rioja, the Meseta of Castile until it reaches the mountains and oak/chestnut forests of Galicia.
This 8 day trip from Sarria will take you through fairy tale like forests, quaint Galician hamlets, open countryside and historical towns to end at Plaza Obradorio in front of the spectacular Cathedral of Santiago in the medieval city of Santiago de Compostela. It is the perfect option for novice Camino walkers as it is the best signposted route and has a great range of services (cafes, restaurants etc) along the trail. It is also recommended for those looking to meet other pilgrims and enjoy the social aspect of the Camino.
As part of this trip, you’ll find featured 7 nights in comfortable locally-owned 2/3 star hotels or rural guesthouses with breakfasts and luggage transport between accommodation. Around-the-clock emergency assistance is also included which adds confidence to the detailed walking notes that cover landmarks, distances and things to see over the course of your walk.
Alongside the sense of achievement and numerous chances to taste the local Galician food, this walking trip entitles you to receive the pilgrim’s certificate of completion or ‘Compostela’.

“I recently did the final section of the French Way with my husband. We used Magic Hill and I found Bronagh to be so helpful with my many questions before we travelled! When we arrived it was such plain sailing! Accommodation was fabulous and very easy to find. I particularly loved the walking notes- very informative and it was great to read up on all the villages and towns we were walking through. We will definitely use Magic Hill again as I can’t wait to return to walk some more!”
Irene Gavin, Galway, Ireland – April 2019
“Just back from an incredible week walking from Sarria to Santiago. Everything about it was spot on from the superb accommodation, daily luggage transportation to the detailed walking notes to keep us right and Bronagh’s advise and encouragement along the way! Thank you so much Bronagh and Victor for making our first Camino experience so special – already looking forward to booking another one”
Karla Cagney, Scotland – September 2019
“Honestly cannot recommend Magic Hill enough for anyone wanting to do the Camino. Bronagh has been absolutely amazing, really looked after us all week. We were a group of 14 with some coming over in different dates and everyone was sorted, transfer/hotels/ luggage were taken care of so all we had to do was focus on walking and laughing. Accommodation was super, well above what anyone was expecting, cutest and charming hotels. Cannot express just how happy we all were with everything Magic Hill did for us, thank u so much, made our Camino experience the best ever we are already planning our next one”
Priscilla Danagher, Ireland – October 2019
Quote of the day:
