The French Way is the most famous Camino route to Santiago. It runs from the eastern side of the Pyrenees at SJPP to Santiago de Compostela in the Northwest of Spain, extending to a distance of 780km.
This 8 day Camino trip takes you over the third section of this Camino from the heart of the Rioja wine region, Logroño, to the medieval city of Burgos, court of the Kings of Castile.
You leave the capital of the Rioja region, Logroño, in a westward direction and cross a wine growing territory to the town of Najera, where the Monastery houses the tombs of important noblemen including a King and Queen and onwards to the historic town of Santo Domingo de la Calzada. The Camino continues through vineyards until you reach the meseta as you get close to the historical city of Burgos which was the seat, first of the Counts of Castile and later on of the Kings of Castile and Leon. Burgos was a very important centre for the wool trade, with privileges granted to their merchant population for the export of wool to Flanders and England.
This trip is ideal for people who have walked the first two sections of the Camino from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Logroño and wish to continue west to Santiago de Compostela as they complete the entire Camino in stages over a number of years.
As part of this trip, you will stay 7 nights in high quality 2, 3 and 4 star Hotels/Boutique Guesthouses with breakfasts and luggage transport between your accommodation. Around-the-clock emergency assistance is also included which adds confidence to the detailed walking notes which covers landmarks, distances and things to see over the course of your walk.
