FULL FRENCH WAY
SAINT JEAN PIED DE PORT – SANTIAGO
The French Way, the quintessential the most famous and most travelled Camino route to Santiago. It runs from the eastern side of the Pyrenees at Saint Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostela in the Northwest of Spain, extending to a distance of 780km. This route follows earlier Roman trade routes and traverses the Pyrenees, beech and pine forests of Navarre, the vineyards of La Rioja, the Meseta of Castile until it reaches the mountains and oak/chestnut forests of Galicia.
The first walking day crosses the Pyrenees offering spectacular views of the green mountain range. The trail ascends through Alpine style meadows to a peak of 1,450m where it crosses the border into Spain and descends through a remarkable beech forest to Roncesvalles. The Camino continues through pine, beech and oak forests and small villages with traditional style Basque houses to Zubiri. These walking days combine a beautiful rural environment, along the banks of the Arga River, with an urban environment to finish at the Cathedral in the centre of Santiago de Compostela. It is a very social route which has a special camaraderie spirit that you will not find on any other Camino route. It is the perfect option for novice Camino walkers as it is regarded as one of the best long distance signposted trails in the world and it has a good range of services (cafes, restaurants and accommodation) along the trail.
As part of this trip, you will stay 35 nights in high quality Hotels/Boutique Guesthouses with breakfast and luggage transport between your accommodation. Around-the-clock emergency assistance is also included which adds confidence to the detailed walking notes which covers landmarks, distances and things to see over the course of your walk.

"Best tour experience you could ever ask for. Covered all your needs from food, places to stay, taxis and luggage. I had a great time on the Camino all due to Magic Hill and Bronagh."
"Working with magic hill holidays for my Camino Frances was the best decision I could have made. Their thorough attention to detail, carefully curated itinerary, personal service and true true compassion made me feel confident every step of the Way. No matter what it was I needed, they were there - from pep talks to directions to suggestions to accommodations - there is no way I could ever say enough positive words about them. I felt singularly cared for and had not a single worry about the where the when the how - There expertise allowed me to sink into my Camino and put my full emotional and physical attention into the task at hand - walking reflecting experiencing it all. Even when I had finished my full Camino they came through with assistance when I had questions about my additional travel through Spain. Thoughtful touches and genuine care for their pilgrims, magic hill can’t be beat. Highly highly highly recommend!!!"
"What an amazing journey we had. It was a wonderful time of year to go. The Meseta was very green and loaded with flowers. We met some really great people that I am sure we will stay in touch with. The lodging provided by Magic Hill was really good. They are also very good at staying in communication with you during your journey to help you find your way and encourage you. I think the only thing we would change for future long distance walks is to build in a rest day for our feet periodically. Thank you to Magic Hill for arranging such a wonderful journey for us"
"I could not have been happier with the care I received, and the personalised plan Bronagh made for me - a 61 yr old solo traveller on my 1st Camino. Bronagh’s experience and knowledge of the Camino is awesome, from advising me on a slower-paced walk to meet my personal circumstances, to encouraging phone calls prior to starting, and informative texts whilst on my Camino. Other pilgrims were jealous of the hotels and support (e.g restaurant recommendations at every stop) Magic Hill provided, and I will be travelling with them again."
"It’s really been one of the best experiences ever for me."
Quote of the day:
“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.”
