SLOW FRENCH WAY (SELF GUIDED)
SARRIA – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
The French Way – the quintessential, most traveled and most documented of all the Camino routes to Santiago de Compostela.
It runs from the eastern side of the Pyrenees at Saint Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in the Northwest of Spain, a distance of 780km. This route follows earlier Roman trade routes and traverses the Pyrenees, beech and pine forests of Navarre, the vineyards of La Rioja, the Meseta of Castile until it reaches the mountains and oak/chestnut forests of Galicia.
This 12 day trip from Sarria will take you through fairy tale like forests, quaint Galician hamlets, open countryside and historical towns to end at Plaza Obradorio in front of the spectacular Cathedral of Santiago in the medieval city of Santiago de Compostala. It is the perfect option for novice Camino walkers as it is the best signposted route and has a great range of services (cafes, restaurants etc) along the trail. It is also recommended for those looking to meet other pilgrims and enjoy the social aspect of the Camino.
As part of this trip, you’ll find featured 11 nights in high quality 2 and 3 star Hotels/Boutique Guesthouses with breakfasts and luggage transport between accommodation. Around-the-clock emergency assistance is also included which adds confidence to the detailed walking notes that cover landmarks, distances and things to see over the course of your walk.
Alongside the sense of achievement and numerous chances to taste the local Galician food, this walking trip entitles you to receive the pilgrim’s certificate of completion or ‘Compostela’.

"A wonderful experience. Due to infirmity, my wife and I were unsure we could walk the Camino. We asked for a walk tailored to our needs over 11 days from Sarria to Santiago. Magic Hill provided an excellent itinerary and a range of accommodation that allowed us to not only complete the journey but enjoy the walk, the food and the rest."
"Magic Hill, & Bronagh in particular, were excellent in organising our personalised Camino from Sarria to Santiago. We had a truly marvellous experience knowing we had their support all the way. They were flexible in organising taxis to accommodate an extra long day followed by a shorter one when the weather looked bad for the second. The accommodations exceeded our expectations. We are talking about which route next and will have no hesitation in asking Magic Hill to organise it! Thank you all !"
"A big thank you to Bronagh and the team at Magic Hills, myself my sister and niece booked our Camino journey with them in May. From start to finish they were extremely helpful and informative. They booked us into some great places to stay each night. They were constantly in touch by text at each stage of the trip and when we reached Santiago De Compostela we were given additional information on what to do there. We had an amazing trip and I can't wait to go again next year. I will definitely be booking with Magic Hill."
"One of the best holidays ever. Many thanks."
"Thank you so much!! The week was perfect, all the notes were such a help and accommodation has been fab"
"We loved our journey to Santiago!! What a magical feeling! Bravo on planning such a fantastic journey. Thank you!"
