Restoration Works in the Cathedral of Santiago

As of Monday 28th of January 19, there will be no further masses in the Cathedral until January 2020 due to restoration work inside the Cathedral. The botafumeiro will not be in operation during this time.
The Cathedral will remain open every day to pilgrims and the public from 9a.m to 7pm. Some areas inside the Cathedral may be boarded up for the restoration works however it will still be possible to perform the rite of the Embrace of the Apostle and descend to the Apostle crypt.
To enter the Cathedral, pilgrims will need to use the double door from Praza de Praterías. All other doors to the Cathedral will be closed to the public.
Masses will be celebrated in other churches in the City:
San Francisco Church, No. 3, Rua do Campiño de San Francisco
The Pilgrim Mass will be held at 12: 00hrs every day in San Francisco Church. This Pilgrim Mass is in Spanish.
Chapel of Pilgrims, Pilgrims Office, No. 33, Rua das Carretas
There will be a Pilgrim Mass in English every day at 09.30a.m in the Chapel of Pilgrims in the Pilgrims Office.
A Corticela
Inside the Cathedral, there is a parish church called ‘A Corticela’ which is the parish church for pilgirms and foreigners. Daily mass will continue as normal at 11 a.m
Santa María Salomé Church, No. 31, Rua Nova
This church will host the celebration of the Eucharist at the following times:
Mon – Thurs: 07.30a.m, 9am, 10am and 7pm
Saturdays: 07.30a.m, 9am, 10am and 7pm
Sundays: 07.30a.m, 9am, 10am, 1pm, 6pm and 7pm
