6 DAY GUIDED ANDALUSIAN WALK – NERJA

The 6 day Andalusian Walks takes you to the Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama mountains in the province of Malaga. Using the beautiful Andalusian town of Nerja as your hiking base, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the stunning mountain trails as well as the Andalusian gastronomy, shopping and the beautiful Burriana beach.

The Sierra Tejeda-Almijara National Park extends to area of 40,000 hectares divided equally between Málaga and Granada Province.

Walking Day 1 takes you to the exceptionally beautiful 17th century hamlet; El Acebuchal, also known as “The Lost Village” or “The Abandoned Village”. The inhabitants of this village were forced to leave their homes under the orders of the Guardia Civil. As a consequence of this, this hamlet was left uninhabited after the Spanish Civil War in 1948 and remained derelict until 1998 when Antonio Garcia Sanchez, an old resident of Acebuchal, took the initiative to renovate the village. Wandering through the streets of this picturesque white-washed village today is like going back in time. The tavern restaurant also provides the opportunity to taste local Andalusian dishes.

Walking Day 2 takes you up the summit of El Fuerte (980m above sea level) offering stunning 360 degrees views of the National Park and the Malaga coastline. The unforgettable views at the top makes the climb worthwhile.

Walking Day 3 Starting in the village of Frigiliana, walk through breathtaking green mountain valleys, to a peak of 600m, with the sea as your companion at a distance to the village of Maro, famous for its Caves. Today, you will cross over the Higueeron, Chillar and Acequia Rivers, where you may be lucky enough to spot the Wild Spanish Goat, the most common animal in these mountains.

This trip is recommend for walkers with mountain walking experience. Our standard walking itinerary can be customised to suit your preference in terms of level of difficulty from easy (3-4 hours and relatively flat) to moderate (6-7 hours with elevation gains of between 300 – 800m).
